How Do I Pay for Auto Shipping?

Posted on July 29, 2010 by Cat

Auto shipping is a service that most people dont use every day which is why there are often questions relating to car moving that crop up. One common question which many auto shipping companies receive each day is how can customers pay for auto shipping?

Of course, the reason that this question is such an important one is that when you are moving a car overseas or over a very long distance, auto shipping can become relatively expensive and may be more than you would pay for a regular service by using cash or your bank card.

In truth, the best way to find out how to pay for auto shipping is to ask the car moving company that you are choosing to use. Many car moving companies have different payment options in place, meaning that they will let you pay for the service using bank transfer or even a check. Of course, many auto shipping companies will also accept payment via your credit card.

If your auto shipping costs more than you were expecting, and you arent sure how to get the fund to pay for the move, the best idea is to contact a different car moving company and ask them for a quote. Services vary widely and that means that prices can also vary so you may find that there are different places where you can get a better deal.

Auto shipping companies are used to answering questions, so dont be afraid to ask if you have any queries relating to moving a car.

Vehicle Transport on a Single Truck Trailer

Posted on July 26, 2010 by Cat

A common question that is asked during car shipping is whether there is an option for vehicle transport on a single truck trailer. This is something that is a less utilized services within the general car shipping industry, but is something that is available where required.

So when would you be using a single truck trailer for vehicle transport? In general the types of people that would be requesting this service from a car shipping company are those that have a vintage or collector car that requires vehicle transport to be handled with kid gloves. In these situations, even the smallest scratch can cause extreme expense and so a single truck trailer may be a better option.

Of course, using a single truck trailer for vehicle transport will bring additional expense to the person who is using this service. The reason for this is that the cost of car shipping cannot be split between many vehicle owners but rather must be paid for by the single vehicle owner.

The expense of single truck trailer car shipping is usually what will determine whether it is to be used or not. To find a car shipping company that can offer you single car moving services, it is best to call a shipping broker who will have a wide array of contacts and will be able to get you the absolute best deal for your vehicle.

Car shipping brokers can also negotiate a lower price for single truck vehicle transport than you will get by going directly to the agent.

Who Drives My Car During Auto Shipping?

Posted on July 20, 2010 by Cat

Auto shipping can be a daunting service to use if you are worried about who will be driving your car during the moving process. To put your mind at ease, I will describe my own experience when I had to move my car and this was one of my concerns.

My car is a 1966 Mustang which belonged to my father and has much sentimental value. When I had to move my car for work, I unfortunately didnt have the time to drive myself and so hired the services of an auto shipping company. My main concern was that damage would occur to my vehicle.

I was advised of the different types of auto shipping, on a car transport truck, driving or on an enclosed hot rod. I chose to move my car on a car transport truck. When the auto shipping truck arrived to collect my car, I was surprised to find that no driving was required. The car was winched onto the trailer with the other cars being moved. The driver told me that no one would drive my car unless it needed to be held at a storage yard. This made me so glad that I chose this option to move my car.

At the destination, I my car was rolled off the auto transport trailer and into the street. I couldnt have been happier with the whole experience that happened when I needed to move my car, and I would certainly use an auto shipping company in the future.

Car Shipment Progress Reporting

Posted on July 17, 2010 by Cat

When you hire an auto shipping company to move your car, you might wonder whether or not it is possible to get car shipment progress reports while your vehicle is being moved. This is a surprisingly common question and one that we will aim to answer here with regards to many different types of auto shipping.

When you move a car locally or interstate, it is likely that you will not be able to get much data on the progress of your car shipment. This is simply because it is a relatively quick process and there is little information that the auto shipping company will be able to provide. Because your car is either listed as awaiting collection, in transit or delivered, most locally or domestic car shipment services will not provide this service.

In the event that there is a delay or issue with your car shipment, the auto shipping company will contact you to advise and this is a scenario where you will receive progress reporting and an updated delivery schedule.

International auto shipping is a different matter. Because there are so many stages involved in an international car shipment, many shipping companies will be happy to provide you with progress reports.

This means that you will be able to find out where your car is in the process, such as passing customs, awaiting clearance or even at sea. Of course, car shipment reports like this are a specialized service so it is a good idea to check with the auto shipping company that you are using to find out exactly what information they will be able to provide.

Do Auto Transport Companies Collect from A Different Location?

Posted on July 13, 2010 by Cat

One common question that arises with regards to auto transport companies is whether customers can leave the car some place convenient so that it can be picked up. Of course, this question has lots of different implications regarding moving a car, so lets look into it in a bit more detail.

Auto transport companies will generally have a few different options for collection of your vehicle. Some will offer a door to door service, meaning that they will collect at your house and deliver to a specified address, a service that is often the most expensive on offer.

Depending on your area, some auto transport businesses will have a delivery depot for when you a moving a car, which is much like a car rental office in that you will drop your vehicle off and leave it to be loaded onto the truck at a later time.

A third option that some auto transport businesses have is that they will ask you to go to a central location when you are moving a car. In general, this situation occurs when you are not near a depot, and the auto transport business will pick somewhere safe and near a highway to collect your vehicle.

In general, in all these situations, you will be required to be with your vehicle until it is handed over to an auto transport company representative. This is because when you are moving a car, the company will complete an inspection report prior to the service beginning. Once this step is completed, you are free to go on your way and meet your car at its destination.

Is My Presence Necessary for Car Delivery?

Posted on July 10, 2010 by Cat

When you are using a car transport company to relocate your vehicle, you may wonder whether you need to be there for pickup and car delivery. Here we aim to put together some answers to these questions about car transport.

When you are talking to car transport businesses, you will find that many of them run on a tight schedule and that they will specify a time of just a few hours when they will collect your car. Of course, depending on your schedule, this may or may not be a convenient time. It is important to know that when you are arranging any type of pickup or car delivery, it is necessary for someone to be available to pass the keys to the car transport driver and also to complete the inspection report.

If you are not available for car delivery, discuss with you car transport company whether it is possible to use a friend or neighbor to meet the car transport driver. Most businesses will advise you that they are happy with this arrangement, but you need to be sure that the person you have available is reliable or you may miss your collection time.

In short, a car transport company will not be able to pick up your car unless there is someone there for them to meet. Because of insurances, you cannot simply hide your keys and expect the car delivery to go ahead without the proper inspections being undertaken. If you have any questions, talk to your car transport company who will be happy to help.
